The process to load the factory sound bank files (or any saved program/bank files) to your DSI synth is relatively easy. This process applies to the Evolver Series, the Prophet '08 Keyboard & Module, the Mopho Desktop & Keyboard, Tempest, and Tetra. The factory programs are permanently stored in the Prophet 12 and the Mopho x4.You can download the factory sound banks from our website.
You can use any standard MIDI or MIDI to USB interface, or for our synths that have a USB port you can transfer SysEx files directly over USB.
First, you’ll need a MIDI utility such as MIDIOX for PC or SysEx Librarian for Mac to update your OS. Both are free downloads with instructions and can be found here, respectively:
Here is the information regarding the MIDIOX configuration:
After installing the application, launch MIDIOX. Attach a MIDI cable from your MIDI interface's MIDI out port to the synth's MIDI in port. In MIDIOX, select "Configure Buffers" from the drop down menu labelled "Options". Set the "Low Level Output Buffers" "Num" and "Size" to "1024" bytes. Click "OK" to close the window and save the settings.
Next, select the "MIDI Devices" menu item from the "Options" drop down menu. In the lower left quadrant of the window click on the MIDI port which is connected to the synth. The selected MIDI port will appear in the top right quadrant of the window in the "Port Mappings" window. Click "OK" to close the window and save the settings. If you're using your synth's built-in USB port, select your synth's name as the MIDI port in the menu instead.
For Tempest, configure MIDIOX with the additional parameters:
- From the View menu, choose Sysex. The Sysex View window opens.
- In the Sysex View window, choose Sysex > Configure. The configure dialog appears.
- Set the Low Level Output Buffers to Size:1024 and Num: 1024. In the Output Timing area, Auto-adjust box should not be selected, and the Delay After F7 box should be selected. Set Delay Between Buffers to 375 milliseconds and Delay after F7to 1000 milliseconds.
Now, under the "View" drop down menu select the "SysEx" menu item. The "SysEx" window will open. Select the "Command Window" drop down menu and choose the "Load File" menu item. Browse for and select the sound bank SysEx file you wish to load. From the "Command Window" drop down menu, select the "Send SysEx" menu item to start file transmission.
The synth display will update and the patch name/numbers will increment as each patch file is transferred to it.
Here is the information regarding the SysEx Librarian configuration:
After installing the application, launch SysEx Librarian. Select your MIDI interface from the center drop down menu at the top. Make sure your interface is selected and not "Act as a source for other programs". If you're using your synth's built-in USB port, select your synth's name as the MIDI interface in the menu instead.
For Tempest, configure SysEx Librarian with these additional parameters:
- From the SysEx Librarian menu, choose Preferences. The SysEx Librarian Preferences dialog appears.
- In the General tab, set Pause between played messages to 1 second.
Load the sound bank file of your choice into SysEx Librarian by dragging and dropping it into the SysEx Librarian window. Next, select the MIDI port which is connected to the synth from the "Destination" pull down menu in the application window. Select the sound bank SysEx file in the list and press the "Play" button in the upper left corner of the application to start file transmission.
The synth display will update and the patch numbers will increment as each patch file is transferred to it.
