Poly chaining a MoPho Keyboard to a MoPho Desktop 28 April 2022 15:19 To get started, the OS on each instrument should be updated to the latest version: http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/support/current_os.php You'll also need a single MIDI cable, 2 sets of stereo audio cables, and 4 free inputs (or 2 stereo inputs) on your mixer/sound card. Next, perform a MIDI program or bank dump either from the Mopho Keyboard to the Desktop unit, or from the Desktop unit to the MoPho Keyboard. This copies the current program or bank on the Keyboard to the Desktop unit or vice versa. To dump programs from the MoPho Keyboard to the MoPho Desktop, connect the MIDI Out (or Poly Chain out) of the MoPho Keyboard to the MIDI In of the MoPho Desktop. On the MoPho Keyboard: 1) Enter the Global Parameters menu by pressing and holding the button labeled "Program" for 2 seconds. 2) Using the Param 1 knob, navigate to the menu item labeled "Dump". Use the Param 2 knob or the +Yes/-No buttons to set it to "CurrentProgMopho" to dump the current program, or "CurrentBankMoPho" to dump the current program bank. 3) Hit the button labeled "write" to complete the program MIDI dump. If you haven't already done so, now is a good time to connect the audio outputs from the MoPho Keyboard and the MoPho Desktop to the free inputs in your mixer/sound card. You should now be set to play the Mopho Keyboard in a Poly Chained configuration. Hit two keys on the Mopho Keyboard and listen for two separate notes playing. If you hear both notes, the Mophos have been configured correctly. Use your mixer/sound card to balance the levels between the Keyboard and the Desktop. Leave the MoPho Desktop's volume knob at maximum, and you can now use the MoPho Keyboard's volume knob to adjust the volume of both synths simultaneously.
